I am a concerned member of the community writing to express my extreme disappointment in how you have treated your guests and employees. I believe the way you have operated the resort during the on-going labor dispute with Ski Patrol is unacceptable.

It is highly disturbing that resort leadership has chosen to alter the industry standard for injury response by opting to send non-patrol/non-medical personnel to validate reported injuries before sending a certified medical responder. I believe this to be an unacceptable departure from the professional standard of medical care that guests of Park City deserve, and I fear it may result in terrible patient outcomes. Your company touts safety as a core value, yet it seems you would rather risk harm to your guests than listen to your experienced responders. I feel as though my safety as a paying customer is being disregarded by the decisions of management and as a guest of the resort I am deeply worried for my own well-being and that of other guests.

I am also frustrated with the lack of open terrain, especially with all the new snow. It is clear that lifts like 9990, Peak 5, Jupiter, Dreamscape, Dreamcatcher, McConkey’s, Daybreak, King Con, and Pioneer would have been open over the holidays if the resort had been fully staffed by your experienced Patrollers. Instead, only a fraction of the terrain that could have been open was skiable. As a consumer of Vail resorts products, this makes me want to take my business elsewhere.

I strongly encourage you to negotiate with the Union in good faith. You must seek a mutually beneficial solution to ensure the safety of the sport we all love and the sustainability of the business that is the lifeblood of this town. We as the public believe that the fair and just thing to do is to bargain respectfully with the Ski Patrol Union and to treat them as equals.

Vail Resorts has the ability to end this right now, and I implore you to do so. Please do the right thing for the Park City community, your Patrollers, and everyone that depends on them for a safe resort experience.
